Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
Talk About It: Do you like to talk to God? Do you like to think about God being in heaven? Sometimes I forget that I can share my thoughts and feelings with God anywhere and anytime. It feels really good to remember. Stop for a minute and tell God all about the kind of day you are having right now!
Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): When Jesus was up on the mountain, he taught about a lot of things. Last week, in Matthew, chapter 5, we learned how to be blessed (truly happy). This week we are going to look at chapter 6, where Jesus talks about: Giving to the needy, How to pray, Fasting, Storing up your treasures in heaven, and How not to worry. Which one of those sounds most interesting or most important to you?
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity 1 – Prayer Box: Find any size box and decorate any way you wish, (hearts, rainbows, crosses, etc.) Get some sticky notes or other paper and write some prayer prompts on them. For example: Dear God, thank you for…, Dear God, I worry about…, Dear God, help me…, Dear God, it’s amazing that…, Dear God, be with me when…
Choose one a day or one a week and fill them out individually or with family. Collect all the prayers in your prayer box.
Activity 1 – Rainbow pairs: Using a white paper plate or white piece of paper, color or paint a purple circle in the middle. Color or paint a blue circle around the purple circle. Continue making larger circles in green, then yellow, then orange, and finally finish with a red circle around all the other colors. When finished with your colorful circles, cut the paper or plate in half and you will have two rainbows!
“Dear Jesus, Thank you for teaching us how to pray. Thank you for giving us what we need every day and for forgiving us when we make mistakes. We are so glad that you welcome all of us in and you love all of your creation forever and ever! Amen”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Give each other a hug and say “you are a blessing!”
