MISSION: Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota expresses the love of Christ for all people through service that inspires hope, changes lives, and builds community.

VISION: All people have the opportunity to live and work in community with full and abundant lives.
LSS is a faith-based organization that maintains relationships and works in partnerships with congregations . Our Nativity Community is one of the key supporters of LSS in Minnesota. LSS service outcome goals are organized around children, youth and families, people with disabilities and older adults. The needs of these groups drive the shape of LSS planning and actions.

Luther Park Camping and Retreat Center is a cooperative ministry of ELCA congregations with a mission to provide an environment in which the Christian faith can be strengthened and people of all ages may grow in their personal relationship with God.

Luther Park is celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2018. This center is more than a summer camp ….. it is also a year round retreat center hosting families, adults, confirmation groups and work gatherings.

Nativity Lutheran Church has been a member congregation for more than 30 years. Each year 30 of our children go to camp, 35 children attend Luther day camps at Nativity, and both youth and adults from Nativity participate in retreats at Luther Park’s retreat center.

Each year Nativity Lutheran Church awards college scholarships to qualified Nativity students attending ELCA Lutheran colleges or Seminaries. The funds for these scholarships come from interest earned by education-related funds in the Church’s Endowment Fund. Most Lutheran colleges have scholarship “Match Programs” which stretch our scholarship dollars.

Applications for the scholarships are completed by the end of April and awards are announced in late May.

Lutheran Disaster Response recognizes that every disaster is local and has a major impact on the community it affects. The organization responds through affiliations in the US, partner organizations and companion churches such as Nativity Lutheran Church. The organization also accompanies communities affected by disaster as they navigate their way to renewal.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America is one church body organized in three expressions…congregations, synods and the churchwide organization. All three expressions share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the confidence of God’s Grace.

ELCA congregations, including Nativity Lutheran Church, are centers where people of faith celebrate, learn and connect with one another and others around the world through weekly worship and service.

Lutheran Social Service Circle

The Lutheran Social Service Circle at Nativity Lutheran Church provides active support for Lutheran Social Service Programs including Camp Noah, Metro Homeless Youth, and Camp Knutson. Members enjoy the fellowship of women committed to care for each other as well as our neighbors.
