The Hunger Community Outreach Team recognizes and responds to the reality that many people are unable to acquire sufficient food to meet basic nutritional needs. This team increases awareness and understanding of hunger and food security in our community.
Current partnerships that this team engages with include:
BREAD FOR THE WORLD – www.bread.org
This Mission Partner is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. By changing policies, programs, and condition that allow hunger and poverty to persist, the organization provides help and opportunity far beyond the communities where we live.
Nativity volunteers assist the Nativity Community in a letter writing campaign and contacting congressional representatives to influence decisions relating to hunger. In 2017 Nativity members drafted and mailed more than 150 letters which resulted in a significant impact on persons who are hungry.
FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN – www.fmsc.org
Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit that provides nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. The organization is dedicated to providing nutritious meals to children worldwide.
Nativity families and individuals donate to fund the meal ingredients and hand-pack the meals. In 2018 over 50 persons gathered to pack the meals. These meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world where kids are fed and lives are saved.
