Donations Needed for Kimball Court Residents

Nativity community, we have an urgent request from our mission partner, Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative. Nativity’s Homelessness Outreach Team will be collecting donations for the request this week. On Saturday morning, Karen Weiberg will bring all Nativity donations to the location in St. Paul.

From Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative:

Kimball Court, a historic building located in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood and home to residents with disabilities coming from homelessness, is scheduled to be renovated soon and is already undergoing improvements in management and services. Our partner Avivo supports residents in moving in quickly and pursuing their own goals in areas such as mental and physical health, employment, or addiction recovery. As residents move in from encampments or shelters with few possessions, providing household items help them settle into their own home for the first time in a long time.

As new residents move in this winter, there is an urgent need for household items and winter coats and gear. Your contributions of the requested items will help residents stretch their dollars. Cooking pots, for example, help them to prepare their own meals rather than relying on convenience stores. Other items like fresh sheets and towels are an expense that may not otherwise be within reach.

WHAT IS NEEDED:

Household Items and Toiletries: You may purchase items from a list kept up to date at www.bethlehem-midway.org/community. Buying small items in bulk is encouraged. New items only, please!

Warm Coats: New or gently used coats, please.

Gift Cards to Walmart: These will help Avivo provide new boots for residents in the needed sizes.

Items can be dropped off during worship hours this weekend and during regular hours 8:00-5:00 during the week as well as Wednesday evening until 7:00 pm. Questions? Contact Karen Weiberg at karenknit10@yahoo.com.
