Bring It Home, MN “Week of Action” Event

Feb

Nativity volunteers have formed a Beacon Leadership Team and are working to increase Nativity involvement in the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative. This team has made the commitment to support a Beacon initiative, Bring It Home, MN, that kicks off the week of February 14, with virtual lobby groups organized by Beacon staff.

Register on the Beacon website at https://www.beaconinterfaith.org/events for “Rent is Due.” The online event is February 14 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. This Zoom gathering will help us organize lobby teams that will connect virtually with State Representatives and Senators during the week.

What is Bring it Home, MN and what are next steps?
• Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, along with 20 other housing organizations, is asking the state to support rent subsidies to ensure families don’t pay more than 30% of their income to keep a roof over their head. There are 550,000 Minnesotans, too many of them children, who struggle to pay their rent and are a hospital visit or a car breaking down that can push them into eviction.
• There is a Bring it Home, MN Week of Action the week of February 14-held virtually.
Look for more information in the Nativity Enews in coming weeks. Also look to hear from this leadership team as they contact individuals who have shown an interest in Beacon.
