Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Make a light (candle, flashlight, light switch) and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: The Lord is my shepherd. I’ll walk with Him always. He knows me and He loves me. I’ll walk with him always.

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today?

Read the Bible Together

John 10:7-15
Spark Story Bible – The Good Shepherd pg 350

Talk About It!

Who likes the color purple? Lots of great things are the color purple, can you think of a few? Well you may notice the pastors wearing this color and the front of the church decorated with this color this time of year. That’s because it’s Lent! The season in the church that is 40 days before Easter to focus on Jesus’ love and the wisdom of His stories. Love is usually represented by the color red and wisdom is usually blue. Mix those together and that’s how we get purple! So these next 40 days, pay special attention to the stories of Jesus and see if you can “I SPY” the red love and blue wisdom.   See if can you spy them in the story today:

We have been reading stories about Jesus from the book of John. In chapter ten, Jesus tells us that he is the good shepherd. Sheep aren’t usually considered pets, but they do need someone to help take care of them. That was the shepherd’s job. Have you ever taken care of an animal? What do they need? They need food and water. They need to be in a safe place. They need to exercise and explore without getting lost. We need those things too. The bible says we are like sheep who have wandered away from God. So, God sent Jesus to be our shepherd and guide us back to safety. He is always there to help us!

Digging deeper: Shepherds sometimes had to protect their sheep from very dangerous animals. Jesus said he was the good shepherd who was willing to give his life to protect his sheep. That is what Easter is all about. Jesus gave up his life to take away our sins, so we could be forgiven and live with God forever!

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Wooly sheep: In your Lenten activity bag that was delivered to your house, there is a kit to make a sheep. The cardboard piece is the body, the clothespins are the legs, the black sticky felt is for making a face, (and ears if you wish), and the yarn is to wrap the body to make a white, wooly sheep.

Herding sheep balloon game: Blow up some balloons, set up two chairs at one end of a room, and find a plastic bat or a wrapping paper tube, etc. Try herding the sheep balloons across the room and between the chairs. (*hint: slow and gentle herding will probably be more successful in guiding the balloon sheep in the direction you want them to go)

Pray Together

Dear Jesus, thank you for your being our shepherd. Thank you for guiding us, helping us and protecting us. We love you, God. Amen.

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Make a heart with your hands and look through it at each other, then say “I spy God loves you!”
