Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus shows the way.”

Sing Together: Try singing Amazing Grace to the tune of Jesus Loves ME

Make an Offering: Put an offering in your Lenten “Piggy” Bank or share an offering another way.

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for your child’s age.

Spark Story Bible – Bartimaeus Sees
BibleMark 11:46-52

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

What are some things that are beautiful to look at? How would you feel if you couldn’t see those things anymore? The man in our story today was blind, and when Jesus asked what the man wanted, the man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

What do you think was the first thing Bartimaeus saw when Jesus healed him? How do you think Bartimaeus felt about being healed? About being able to see? What things would Bartimaeus find interesting or beautiful?

Digging Deeper: Why do you think Jesus said, “Your faith has healed you”? The story about Bartimaeus is lovely, but not all stories about blind people end with being able to see. Can you think of anyone who is blind? How is God at work in their life?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together!

Activity 1: Amazing Grace Watercolor Message Write “Faith” or another message like “Jesus loves me” in white crayon on white paper. Pro tip: go over the letters several times so they appear bold when revealed by the watercolor. Using watercolor, uncover this amazing message. If you don’t have watercolors, markers will work, too.

Activity 2: Make a shaker instrument In Miss Leah’s video today, she sang a fun song about Jesus restoring Bartimaeus’ sight. You can make your own shaker instrument and sing along. Use a plastic egg or any small container that closes completely. Add dry rice, dry beans, nuts, or use something non-edible like beads, coins or stones. Shake and sing!

Pray Together

Pray the Lord’s Prayer together!

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Cover your eyes and then uncover them saying “I see God’s love in you!”
