Offering: What would you like to give as an offering to today?

Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
In the Transfiguration story, Jesus took friends up the mountain and had such a special experience that they didn’t want to come back down. When have you had a “mountain top” experience? Maybe you worked really hard for something and you were extremely proud of yourself when you reached your goal. Maybe helping someone else made you feel so great!
Share and celebrate those moments! Ask Jesus to help you remember them when the hard times come.
Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): Consider the themes of Epiphany… the special starlight that showed the Wisemen the way to Jesus and God’s voice speaking from the sky after Jesus was baptized. Transfiguration also has a special bright light and the voice of God speaking out loud from the sky. It reminds us again that Jesus is incredibly important and he was sent to lead us. How does God show you the way? How do you “hear” God’s voice?
Family Activity
Pick activities to do together!
Activity 1: Act it out! Pretend you are working hard at climbing up a mountain. Squint your eyes when the bright light comes. Hide your face when you hear the voice of God. Peek out when Jesus taps you and see that everything is back to normal. Talk to someone about God’s amazing promises to always love us and always be with us.
Activity 2: Change game: Choose someone in the family to be “it”. Take a good look at them. Then send them out of the room to change something about their appearance, (take off one sock, move a barrette from one side of their hair to the other, push up your sleeves, etc.) Invite them back in and see if anyone can spot the change!

“Dear God, thank you for showing us how truly special Jesus is. Help us to follow his light and listen to your voice. Amen“
