Whoa! Wow! I’ve been saying that a lot lately as I watch the Olympics. The athletic feats seem almost impossible or miraculous, but those are just regular people that discovered their talent and then worked really, really hard to develop their skills. (They also had a lot of help and support from family, coaches, and community.) If what those athletes can do is so amazing, try and imagine how awesome the real miracles of Jesus were!! Today we are reading the story of Jesus walking on water. This miracle is mentioned in three books of the Bible: Matthew 14:22-33, Mark 6:45-52 and John 6:16-21
Dig Deeper: Why were the disciples afraid? They had seen Jesus do miracles before, why was it hard for them to believe that Jesus could walk on water? Is it hard for us to understand God’s power and plans?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity: Miracle Olympics: Make up a family race course inside or outside. Say a miracle of Jesus as you get to each location. (For example, you could time someone running to three different locations. Go touch the refrigerator and say, “Jesus fed 5000 people with one lunch!” Race to the living room, lay down on the couch and say, “Jesus healed the man who couldn’t walk!” Sprint to the bathroom, turn on the water and say, “Jesus walked on water!” (Look up the whole list of miracles and make the race as challenging as you wish! ☺

Pray Together
“Dear God, thank you for showing us your great power through miracles. Help us remember that your love is the greatest power of all! Amen.“
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Pretend to walk on water towards each other and while reaching for each other’s hands say “Always have faith in God!”
