Grades 1-4: “Love, Love, Love! That’s what it’s all about. God loves us, we love each other: Mother, Father, Sister, Brother. Everybody sing and shout! ‘Cuz that’s what it’s all about. It’s about love, love, love. It’s about love, love, love.”

Make an Offering: How can you be an offering this week?

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Spark Story Bible – Saul to Paul pg 408
Bible – Acts 9:1-18

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Happy Mother’s Day! It’s a day to celebrate all the Mothers, Grandmothers, and everyone who makes your life better by sharing their love! What is love? Hearts? Flowers? The bible says that love is patient. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. It does not boast. It is not proud. Did Jesus bring the people hearts and flowers to show that he loved them? No. Those can be nice gifts to share your appreciation for someone, but Jesus demonstrated love by helpful actions. He fed people who were hungry. He healed people who were sick. He talked to people who didn’t have friends. Let’s show our Mothers, and others, how much we love them with our patient, kind and helpful actions!

Dig Deeper: Love changes people. Last week we learned about the letters in the bible that were written to help people in different towns learn about Jesus as they started the early Christian churches. Those letters were written by Paul. He probably wrote more about the love Jesus than anyone else in the bible. But Paul didn’t start out by sharing love. He didn’t even start out as Paul… his name was Saul. Saul hated Jesus and was trying to put his followers in jail. But God shone His bright light on Saul and changed his heart and mind and even his name. You can read the story in Acts 9:1-18.

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Tissue paper flowers: Using the materials in your May kit, or tissue paper and a pipe cleaner of your own, make a flower for someone special on Mother’s Day. Cut your tissue paper in circles, (2-3 inches in diameter). Layer the circles on top of each other. (We did 8 circle layers in your kit.) Cut 2 tiny slits in the center of the circle stack. Thread your pipe cleaner up through one slit and down through the other to make a stem. Then, starting with the top circle, scrunch up the tissue paper toward the center of the circle. Work your way down the stack. Each scrunched up layer will make the flower “blossom” more full.

Activity 2: Family song: Use this link to hear a song about family and being in each other’s hearts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDeh7kzXQrc

Pray Together

Dear God, thank you for my family. Help us share love and patience and kindness. Let that love spread to the community and the world as we support one another and follow the example of Jesus. We love you God! Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Give GIANT hugs and says, “I’ll never stop loving you!”
Make it extra fun, hog pile on top of the grown up that gives you motherly love and shout it!!
