Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

What is “church”? Is it a building, the people, or what we do together?

This past year has taught us that it’s not just about a building, we can be the church anywhere! Early believers gathered wherever it was safe to thank God for providing, pray for His help, and give of themselves to each other and those in need. Sounds a lot like what our church is like today! Where’s some different places you’ve been to “church” this past year?

One of the early believers name was Stephan. He and others in the early church were sharing the good news about Jesus. What is the good news about Jesus? Have you ever told anybody about Jesus? What do you love about Jesus?

Dig Deeper: Have you ever heard the phrase “speak truth to power”? Stephen’s words upset those in power, particularly a group of religious leaders called the Sanhedrin. Can you think of anyone who speaks truth to power? Can you think of anyone who has suffered or died speaking truth to power? How can you use your voice to stand up for what you believe in?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Prayer Flags: Use any paper and coloring supplies from home to make a Prayer Flag, to help those in our city know we are praying for them in this time of unrest. For littles grown ups can write simple words like “God bring peace” and kiddos can color them. Then drop them off at church on Tuesday 4/20 8am-4:30pm or take a picture and email to Miss Renee (renee@nativitychurch.org) and your Prayer Flag will be displayed to help encourage our community!

Activity 2: Rhombicuboctahedron Find the 3 sheets about Stephen in your Faith Formation kit or download it here: https://crossroadskidsclub.net/stephen/ You can engage with this activity in different ways. If you are a patient puzzler, assemble the 3D rhombicuboctahedron. Alternatively, you can cut out the 2D shapes to work on square/triangle identification and sequencing.

Pray Together

“Dear God, Fill us with your Holy Spirit. Help us to speak truth, work for justice and love our neighbors. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen..”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Make the peace sign and say, “Peace be with you!”
