News from the November Homelessness Initiative

The Nativity Homeless Outreach Team thanks you for your support during the month of November when housing issues were featured. A special focus was the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.

Thank you to all at Nativity who participated in the Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative 1:1 conversations as we moved towards joining Beacon as a collaborative partner. In these conversations many people shared their empathy for homelessness and what Beacon is doing to address the problem.

Beacon supports Bring it Home Minnesota, an initiative to increase housing vouchers so that no one in Minnesota pays more than 30% of their income to rent. Many people who spoke with the Homelessness Outreach Team supported this idea. We look forward to opportunities for Nativity to become involved in this and other activities that address homelessness in Minnesota.

Finally, a special anonymous gift of $1500 was given to Beacon. Accepting the check is Rev. Emily Goldthwaite Fries, Beacon Congregational Organizer from Homeless and Racial Equity, along with Justice Ministry Team members, Karen Weiberg, Gail Bergsven, and Grace Gee.
