Fall Family Faith Formation – Nov 7 & 8

Join us each week as a family to have fun together with God’s great stories!

Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!

Welcome Videos

Start by picking a Welcome Video from Miss Leah for Grades 1-4
or Miss Renee for littles-Kindergartners or watch both!

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: This Little Light of Mine

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today? An offering is not always money. You can also offer your time, support, or creativity to improve the lives of others.

Littles Sing Together: Watch the Welcome Video to learn a new verse to our God’s Love song!

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Frolic Bible (received at Baptism) Jonah story page
Spark Story Bible (received at 3 years old) “Jonah and the Big Fish” on page 180
Bible (Adventure Bibles received in 3rd Grade) Jonah 1:17-2:10 (or read all of Jonah)

For MORE FUN, watch the Holy Moly version of the story!

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Today’s story is a whale of a tale! What do you know about whales? Where do they live, what do they eat? How big are they? Can they be as big as your bed, your family car, your house? Have some fun learning about whales together!

What do you think it would be like inside a whale? God wanted Jonah, a prophet, to deliver some bad news to the people of Nineveh, but Jonah refused. He tried to sail away but was thrown off the ship. God sent a whale to swallow Jonah. Do you think God was punishing Jonah? Why or why not? God was giving Jonah a safe space to think, and ultimately Jonah realized that he wanted to do what God asked of him.

Dig Deeper: What difficult things have you been asked to do? How does God help you do difficult things?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1 – Make a Whale Prayer Fort!: Use blankets to make a whale fort. Sit inside together and talk about a BIG feeling you have and say a short prayer for God to walk with you through your feelings. And have some fun acting out some scenes from Finding Nemo or Pinocchio.

Activity 2 – Pin Jonah In the Whale: Using the game board (or print the PDF) in your FF kit, play this classic twist on Pin the Tail on the Donkey. As you spin the blindfolded person around, say: When I fear that I may fail, God give me time to think in the belly of a whale.

Activity 3 – Go Fish: Some Bibles refer to a “huge fish” that swallows Jonah. Play a game of Go Fish together as a family. Remember God’s safe place for Jonah.

Frolic Family Activities!

Pray Together

“Dear God, Thank you for your love that is as BIG as a whale. I trust you to be with me through all my BIG feelings and point me in the right direction. I love You God. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Use your best whale voice and say “God love is a big as a whale!”
