Micah 6:8
Spark Story Bible A Ruler from Bethlehem or Frolic Book I Can Help
Talk About It!
Today, our bible verse comes from Micah. Micah was a prophet. That means that he was a person who received messages directly from God and he was supposed to share those messages with the people. Who sends you messages? What kind of messages do you like to get? How do you think God gives us messages today? Micah told the people that God wanted them to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. That message is still great for our world today. Help make things fair, be kind and forgiving, and put God first!
Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): Our Adventure Bibles have a great title page for every book in the bible. Want to know who wrote the book? Want to know when it was written? You can also find out the main ideas and which people are important in each book. Three things it says in Micah are: bad choices will have bad consequences, an important ruler will be born in Bethlehem, and God is eager to forgive us. Do you think those ideas are still important even though they were written almost 3,000 years ago?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together!
Activity 1: Kindness collage – In the video you heard the book, “26 Big Things Small Hands Do”, by Coleen Paratore. Using markers, stickers, writing, tracing, etc. make a paper that celebrates all the little things you do that make a big difference! For example: trace your hand and write, “Way to go!” to remember cheering someone on. Put an animal sticker on to remember caring for a pet. Tape on a plastic lid to celebrate recycling. Add anything you want!
Activity 2: Telephone Game – Play a game of telephone! One person start by whispering a message to another, and then pass it along until the last person in the family hears it and reveals what they think the message was.
Pray Together
“Dear God, thank you for sending us messages through the bible and through other people. Help us practice justice, love kindness and think about you everyday. Amen.“
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Make a “light” with your finger and say “Thanks for letting your light shine!”
