Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or light 2 candles on your Advent wreath. Today we light the candle of peace.

Sing Together:
Come and see, come and see, light the candle of hope with me.
Come and be, come and be, be a light of hope
sing the song again, but switch the word hope to peace

Offering: November and December children’s offerings will go to ELCA Good Gifts.

Pray together: Give thanks for three things and/or recite the Lord’s Prayer together

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Frolic Bible – Jesus is Born / Spark Story Bible – Angels Visit
John 1:1-5, 14

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Talk About It:  Surprise! It’s week two of Advent already! This week we read about the angel appearing to Mary and Joseph, to tell them that baby Jesus was coming! How would you feel if you saw an angel and it talked to you? Do you think God still gives special jobs to people? Mary and Joseph must have had lots of questions, but they believed the angel’s words and they trusted God to be with them and help them.

Dig Deeper: On week two of Advent we are talking about peace. Sometimes it helps us to understand an idea if we talk about an opposite idea. If we say peace is calm, what would be the opposite? Surprise, fear, or maybe something so unexpected that it shocks us! What happens to our bodies when we are completely surprised by something? For example, what if someone jumped out at you and yelled in your face? Or you were running and suddenly tripped and fell down hard? You would probably freeze for a moment while your brain tried to figure out what just happened and whether or not you are safe. Tell someone what makes you feel calm again after a shock. Is it deep breaths? Is it a quiet place with a special blanket or toy? Is it a hug?
