Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today? Grades 1-4 are collecting offerings to go to ELCA Good Gifts. We like to pick out animals for long lasting food stability. Anyone can donate at goodgifts.elca.org

Talk About It!
Happy New Year! How did you celebrate? What was your favorite part of 2021? What are you looking forward to in 2022?
Our Bible story this week takes a little leap in time to Jesus’ baptism. His looks a little different than the one you probably had. He was baptized in a river by his cousin John. And when He came out of the water the skies opened up and everyone there heard God’s voice say “This is My Son with whom I am well pleased.”
What was your baptism like? Ask your grown ups to show you pictures, maybe find your candle. Ask them what theirs was like. No matter how different they all may be, we all have one thing in common with Jesus. It was a time God welcomed us as His child and said He is well pleased with us. We became part of God’s family.
So this new year, talk about how can we celebrate being part of God’s family? How can be helpers with the rest of God’s family?
Digging deeper: Has your family ever made new years resolutions? Talk about one resolution you can make all together and make a plan for how you work on it this year.

Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Remember your baptism by wetting your finger and drawing a cross on each other’s foreheads, then say “You are a child of God!”
