Talk About It!
During Christmas we get excited for the arrival baby Jesus. During Epiphany we follow the wisemen to toddler Jesus. And now we fast forward in time to grown up Jesus when he began to teach how to love and bring peace on earth. But let’s back up a step…what do you think it was like for Jesus growing up? The Bible doesn’t talk much about it so let’s use our imaginations! Can you imagine being His sibling or parent? I always giggle about Mary having to teach the “Son of God” how to use the potty. What are some things you think could have been silly?
Well today our Bible story is of grown up Jesus starting to show the world just how special He is. Turning water into wine was Jesus’ first miracle. He did this at a wedding celebration. Have you ever been to a wedding? What was it like? Wine can be part of a wedding celebration, but so can food, music, and dancing. Can you imagine a celebration without these things?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity 1: Turning Water into Wine You will need: 6 glasses, a pitcher of clear water and some red food coloring. Put 1-2 drops of red food coloring into the bottom of each glass. Then pour water into each of the 6 glasses and see how the clear water miraculously turns red!
Activity 2: Wedding Reception Crank up the volume and do some silly dances that are popular at wedding receptions. Some ideas: Hokey Pokey, YMCA, Macarena, Electric Slide, or even Chicken Dance (hey, I am from Wisconsin). A dance party always improves my mood even when I don’t feel like it at first!

“Dear God, help me to be like Mary and teach others about Jesus. Help me to be like Jesus and show love and care for others. Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Twinkle you fingers like a star over each other’s heads, then say “You shine God’s light!”
