Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus’ light shines in me.”
Sing Together: Sing or say: The fruit of the spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. With these we show God’s love.
Make an Offering: How can you give an offering today? It could be time, talent, or treasure!
Read the Bible Together

Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
For the next several weeks we will be talking about the “Fruit of the Spirit”. I’m sure you know what fruit is. Do you know what the spirit is? The spirit is referring to the Holy Spirit. That is the part of God that came to earth after Jesus went back to heaven. God promised to always be with us and help us. We can’t see it with our eyes, but God is always here! We know that fruit is something sweet that grows. The first “fruit of the spirit” listed in the Bible is love. God helps us and others every time we show love. In our story today, the rainbow fish finds it very hard to share what he has with others. But after he tries it, he is very happy that he shared and he made others happy too. Have you ever had a hard time sharing? Do you like it when others share with you?
Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): Sharing our possessions is one way to show love to others. What are some more? When you take the time to listen to someone’s problem or use your talents to volunteer, you are practicing love and the Holy Spirit is there. Watch this video about philanthropy to get some more ideas! (Watch the drawings carefully and you’ll see some fruit!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIf-Em7dmvw
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together with supplies you have around your house!
Play dough Rainbow Fish – Get some play dough, (store bought or homemade), and make two different sized hearts. (You can use cookie cutters or your own skills to make the hearts.) The pointed end of the bigger heart is the nose of the fish. The smaller heart makes the tail of the fish. Use sequins or glitter or tin foil, etc. to make your shiny rainbow fish! (Don’t have play dough? Make paper hearts or cut heart shapes out of bread! A PB&J striped fish could be yummy! 😊)
Pray Together
“Dear God, help us show our love for you by loving and helping others. Help us include others and be great listeners. Lead us to big and small actions of kindness every day! Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Give each other a gentle pinch and says, “You’re super fruity!”
