Talk About It!

Talk About It: Happy 4th of July Weekend! What do you like most about this holiday? Picnics, parades, fireworks, watching the national hot dog eating contest?

Do you like rules? Well the past few weeks in Worship, they have been focusing on Moses and the 10 commandments. When God calls him up to the mountain to give him a list of “rules” to live together in love and peace. Do you have any rules in you house? Ask your grow ups how those rules help you love each other. Ask your grown ups to share some of the rules or laws we have in our country and how do those help us love each other. See, rules aren’t so bad. They are just a way to help us to remember to do everything we can to make sure everyone is happy, healthy, and safe, and that’s really what sharing God’s love is all about!

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Rule Making – Each family member gets to make up a rule, it can even be silly, and write it on a “stone tablet” aka post-it. Share with your family how your rule helps each other be happy or healthy or safe. Try to all follow the rules for 1 hour, then talk about rules helped share love.

Activity 2: Fireworks Prayer – While you are watching fireworks, pick something you’re thankful for each blast and imagine how beautifully it spreads to everyone just like a firework lights up the sky.

Pray Together

“Thank you God for our home, community, state and country. Help me to always try to live in love and peace. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Make “fireworks” by twinkling your hands over each other and say “thank you for your love!”
