Welcome Videos
Start by picking a Welcome Video from Miss Karla
Worship Together
Share in some faith practices of worship together!
Shine a Light: We are celebrating Christmas in July! Find 4 summer-y things that light up to make an Advent Wreath. Light each one by saying “With JOY we welcome Jesus!” Then the rest, HOPE, LOVE, and PEACE.
Sing Together: Pick your favorite Christmas song and sing it together!
Make an Offering: How can you be an offering this week?
Read the Bible Together
Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.
Watch the Holy Moly Video: The Holy Moly videos series from Spark takes the essentials of the Bible story, adds a bit of humor, and subtracts a bit of the scariness. The result is a video suitable for all ages. Enjoy today’s unique re-telling of The Magi story.
Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
Today we are talking about Epiphany. We usually do this after Christmas when we remember the Wise Men following the star to find Jesus. The main idea is that Jesus is the light of the world. He came to show us the way. He came so that we wouldn’t have to live in the darkness of sin. We can be forgiven and we are always, always loved!
Dig Deeper: Look up Matthew 5:16 in your Bible. Once we learn about the light of God’s love through Jesus Christ we can show it to others. Happiness often comes from smiling, sharing, and doing things together. It’s important to feel a connection to others. What are some of your best moments with others? What makes them special?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity: Flashlight fun: Play a game with a flashlight, like night-time tag or Night at the Museum, (The “guard” has a flashlight and walks around a dark room. The other people are the statues. The “statues” try to move when the guard is looking the other way, but don’t get caught! Freeze before the flashlight shines on you.)
Activity: Rhyme time: Use these words to talk about light: See/Be, Show/Glow, Reflect/Protect, High/My, Your/More. Have fun guessing the rhyming word, then take turns saying each pair and adding the word light. (See light. Be light. Show light. Glow light…)
Pray Together
“Dear God, thank you for lights. Sunlight, moonlight, starlight, firelight, flashlight. They help us see and grow and keep warm. Thank you for sending the best light of all to show us the way, Jesus our Savior! Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Put your arms around each other and sing “We wish you a merry Christmas (in July). We wish you a merry Christmas (in July). We wish you a merry Christmas (in July). And happiness all year!”
