Welcome Video

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus’ light shines in me.”

Sing Together:  Sing or say: Love, Joy, Peace and Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, too. Gentleness and Self-Control, these are gifts God offers to you!

Make an Offering: How can you give an offering today? It could be time, talent, or treasure!

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Psalm 23 / Spark Story Bible The Lord Is My Shepherd

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Today we are focusing on the eighth fruit of the spirit, which is gentleness. What does it mean to be gentle? What are times you are told to be gentle? How is someone gentle with you?

In our Bible Story this week, we learn before David was a king, he was a shepherd. It was his job to look after sheep. While he did this he noticed how much sheep can be like humans, a little too focused on immediate needs and in contact need of guidance. Do you think he was right? And he noticed how God shepherds us so gently just like he did with the sheep. After reading the Psalm, can you think of ways God is gentle with you? Does He provide you with all you need? How about when you make a mistake, does He forgive you and still love you? Of course!  So if God can be gentle with us, His Spirit can help us be gentle with each other. How can you trust God’s Spirit to help you be gentle this week?

Dig Deeper: In Matthew 11:29 Jesus describes Himself as gentle and lowly in spirit, what do you think that means? Can you think of stories when Jesus was gentle? See how many you can come up with together (googling is ok!)

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together with supplies you have around your house!

Activity 1: Gentle Make Perfect! Did you know most sports require a great deal of gentleness to perfect the skill. Pick a family favorite yard game like croquet or corn hole and talk about all the ways you have to be gentle to succeed. Then as you swing the mallet or loft the bean bag, each time thank God for a way He is gentle with you.

Activity 2: Be Gentle with Yourself! Talk about your favorite self-soothing practices – a pattern or deep breathing, yoga, reading a book. Then try them out together and see if they are helpful for each other too.

Pray Together

“Dear Lord, we thank you for gently guiding us like a shepherd. Help us to be gentle with ourselves and with others. We love you God. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Give each other a gentle pinch and says, “You’re super fruity!”
