Summer Family Faith Formation – Aug 28

Join us each week for “Book Club” as we bring to life beloved children’s books and Bible stories!

Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!

Welcome Video

Watch a video about Ruth from last year that is just too cute we had to repeat it!

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Turn on a book light or reading lamp and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Giving Thanks: Sing or say: Thank you God, for giving us life. Thank you God, for giving us life. Thank you God, for giving us life. Right where we are! Alleluia, praise the Lord! Alleluia, praise the Lord! Alleluia, praise the Lord! Right where we are! (Add in your own ideas of things you are thankful for!)

Offering: How can you make an offering today?

Read the Bible Together

Read the Bible: Ruth 1 and or watch the Holy Moly video

Talk About It!

How far have you traveled this summer? What were some of your favorite parts of you trip? What were some of your least favorite? How did you help each other all be safe and have fun?

In our story today, Naomi & Ruth take a long journey. They are a unique family but because they are brought together by God’s love, it’s perfectly normal. Is it easy to follow those in your family? Ask if anyone in your family followed God leading them somewhere unexpected. Ask if having the love of your family made it easier.

Dig Deeper: Watch one of our Worship Leaders (Freda, Jeanie & Bex) share the Message part of Worship from 8/14, 8/21, or 8/28. They are exceptionally beautiful messages and a great way to start a discussion about love and being a family together. CLICK HERE for archived messages.

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together!

Where You Go I Go game: Make an obstacle course, indoors or outdoor. Let the youngest in your family go first at setting it up, then have them lead you through it. Go up by age order and let everyone have a turn.

Family Reading: All summer, we’ve read some of our favorite books, this week pick a family favorite book and talk about what it says about love and being a family.

Pray Together

“Dear God, thank you for Your love and thank you for those you’ve given me to love! Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Hold hands and say “where you go I’ll go!”
