Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Make a light (candle, flashlight, light switch) and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: Sing or say: Thank you, God for giving us life. Thank you, God for giving us life. Thank you, God for giving us life, right where we are!

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today?

Read the Bible Together

Acts 16:16-26
Spark Story Bible, “Paul and Silas”

Talk About It!

Last week we learned about Saul being changed. He stopped hurting the Christians, changed his name to Paul, and went to many towns to tell people about the love of God through Jesus. In one town, Paul and his friend Silas were put in jail. Doesn’t that sound scary? Do you think they were worried? Maybe, but they did not act like it. Instead of crying, Paul and Silas sang and prayed! The bible says, “Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.”   What do you think happened next? Did God leave Paul and Silas in jail? No! There was an earthquake and the prison doors flew open and the chains came loose!

Digging deeper: We all get stressed sometimes. What makes you feel better when you are worried or scared? Do you talk to a trusted adult or friend? Do you have favorite songs that help you feel calmer or stronger? Do you pray and tell God about your fears? God will always listen! In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That’s just a more complex way of saying, “Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong!”

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Helping us through: For this object lesson, fill up a baggie with water. Get a sharp pencil. Pretend that the baggie is you and the sharp pencil is something that is coming to hurt you. Say, “God will help me through my hurts.” Then slowly and steadily push the sharp pencil right through the bag and the water until the point comes out the other side. Now the bag has two holes, but it’s not leaking!

Thanks for the good roots!: Paul and Silas were some of the early Christians who helped the church to grow and be strong. On this Mother’s Day weekend, make one of more of these projects to thank the people who help you grow! Download HERE!

Pray Together

“Thank you, God for listening to us when we sing and pray. Thank you for sending people in our lives that help us grow. Let us share words and actions that help others. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

It’s still Eastertide, so say “Jesus is risen!” and respond “He is risen indeed!”
