Talk About It!

Do you ever write letters? Have you ever gotten a letter (or card) in the mail? How did it make you feel to receive a letter? Whom would you like to get a letter from? Whom could you write a letter to?

Paul, Barnabas, and Peter were three people who helped to bring the message of God’s grace and Jesus’ love and to everyone. They met to talk about both difficult and wonderful things, just like we’re doing right now. They traveled to new places to talk to new people. What are some places you have visited? What are some places you would like to visit? What would you like people to know about Jesus? In addition to traveling, Paul, a follower of Jesus, wrote A LOT of letters to people in faraway places. In his letters, he gave advice and encouragement to people who were beginning to form the first churches. Do you like to get letters or cards in the mail?

Digging deeper: We all get stressed sometimes. What makes you feel better when you are worried or scared? Do you talk to a trusted adult or friend? Do you have favorite songs that help you feel calmer or stronger? Do you pray and tell God about your fears? God will always listen! In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That’s just a more complex way of saying, “Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong!”

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

  1. Activity 1: Write an encouraging message with chalk on a driveway or sidewalk.
  2. Activity 2: Send a letter to a family member or friend whom you have not seen in a while.

Pray Together

“Dear God, help us to be a church, a caring community where nobody pays back wrong for wrong. Help us strive to do what is good. Help us rejoice in your promises, pray for one another and give thanks for all your blessings. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

It’s still Eastertide, so say “Jesus is risen!” and respond “He is risen indeed!”
