Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
We are finishing the season of Lent. It is Palm Sunday, one week before Easter. Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem, like thousands of other Jewish people to celebrate the Passover. It was a very exciting day! Big crowds of people cheered for Jesus as he rode into town on a donkey. They laid down their cloaks on the road and waved palm branches and shouted, “Blessed is the king, who comes in the name of the Lord!”
They called Jesus a king. What is the difference between a regular human king and Jesus? Did Jesus live in a castle? Did Jesus wear a crown with jewels or command armies of soldiers? I haven’t read anything like that in the bible. What did Jesus do with his great powers?
Dig Deeper: It also says in our bible verses that Jesus was sad and cried about the future of Jerusalem because they did not recognize God coming to them. Even after seeing Jesus in person and knowing all about his miracles, the people switched from happy cheering to angry shouting in less than a week. Jesus knew this would happen and he gave his life to save those people, and all of us, anyway. He was a servant king, he used all of his power to help others!

Pray Together
“Dear Jesus, thank you for reminding us that our power can be used for good! Every act of kindness makes a difference! Thank you for forgiving us when we forget and make mistakes. We love you! Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Using your finger, draw a little cross on your forehead. Say, “God loves me. God forgives me.”
