Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Make a light (candle, flashlight, light switch) and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: “Do My Best” Love, I’ll love, I’ll love you Lord forever. Love, I’ll love, I’ll love you Lord forever. I’ll do my best. I’ll do my best, woah-oh-oh. I’ll do my best for you! Talk About It!

What kinds of things can you think of that need to stay connected? A lamp to electrical outlet, a flower to the plant, a magnet to the fridge, any other ideas you have?

In our Bible story, Jesus told His friends that if they stay connected to God, they’d always be filled with enough love to share with everyone. He used the example of a grapes. The grape branch needs to stay connected to the vine to make grapes. Jesus used a special word for this, “abide”, which means “to stay put”. So if our hearts “stay put” with God, we’ll always be filled with so much love we can’t help but share it.

Digging deeper: In verse 12 Jesus says “Love each other as I have loved you.” Talk about ways that you have seen God love you and discuss how you could share that kind of love with others. (Hint: check out Galatians 5:22-23, it will will remind you of a song with LOTS of hints!)

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity: Adide Plant – In John 15: 5, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Use the planting kit in you Lent At-Home Kit to plant this seed paper in pot to enjoy the fruits of God’s creation. The native plants will attract pollinators who in turn make our gardens more fruitful.

Activity 2: Stay Connected Relay – To help each other “bare much fruit”, set up a relay game to pass a piece of fruit from one family member to the next to get it on a plate. Set a plate on a table, then form a line holding a cups, the person farthest away starts with the fruit in their cup and passes it down the line until it lands on the plate. Try with spoons or plates. Try different fruits. Add obstacles. Have fun staying connected to help each have a tasty snack!

Pray Together

“Dear God, thank you that you call me your friend! Help me to stay connected to You so I can always be filled with You love so much that I can’t help sharing it. I love you God!  Amen”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Connect hands to form a line to do an arm wave and say “I’m glad God connected me to you!”
