Start with a Welcome Video from Miss Leah

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Make a light (candle, flashlight, light switch) and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: “Do My Best” Love, I’ll love, I’ll love you Lord forever. Love, I’ll love, I’ll love you Lord forever. I’ll do my best. I’ll do my best, woah-oh-oh. I’ll do my best for you! Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today?

Read the Bible Together

John 20:24-29 and The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn
(watch Leah’s video, read your own copy, or visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPUW1t9Gu4s)

Talk About It!

Chester and Thomas both had doubts and fear. Chester was worried about going to school, and he doubted that it could be as nice as staying at home. Thomas doubted that Jesus had really appeared to the disciples. Thomas and the disciples were afraid to be without Jesus.  What helped them to believe and feel comforted? What do hands have to do with both of these stories? Who is someone who can help reassure you when you are frightened? What can be like a “kissing hand” for you?

Digging deeper: What do you think happened to Thomas and Chester after these stories were over? I like to wonder about things like that! Have you ever had a hard time believing something about your faith? What was hard to believe? What helps you believe and trust?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Trace your hand Make your own kissing hand by tracing it, cutting it out and putting a heart in the middle. Write (or have a grown up write) what Jesus told Thomas in John 20:27, “Stop doubting and believe.”

Activity 2: What can be your kissing hand? Put something in your backpack or on your nightstand to be your kissing hand. Use the kissing hand you made, a family photograph, or something else that is special to you. My son has a family picture in his backpack. I have a ring.

Pray Together

“Dear Lord, thank you for Jesus’ loving hands. Help us to use our hands to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

It’s still Eastertide, so say “Jesus is risen!” and respond “He is risen indeed!”
