On Tuesday, May 17, Nativity Council passed the resolution that Nativity Lutheran Church become a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. We celebrate that Nativity is now a RIC Congregation, and we aspire to continue the work of welcoming, including, celebrating, and advocating for LGBTQIA+ people in this faith community and the greater church.
Nativity Council President, Karen Volker, and Vice-President, Donna Steinwand, share this statement with the Nativity community: “The Nativity Council is pleased and proud to support our goal of becoming a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) partner. This is an important milestone in our ongoing journey to increase inclusiveness and service to those who are marginalized and oppressed. Many thanks to the RIC Core Team for their commitment to the rigorous RIC process and their dedication to discernment, communication, and growth throughout. We celebrate the ever larger tent that we call Nativity.”
Please join in worship this weekend, May 21-22, when we will give a blessing and our thanks to the Core Team, who has diligently led Nativity through its RIC process. As well, Pastor Ben’s sermon and the music offered will be inspired by the significance of this important milestone in Nativity’s journey. Between worship services, special hospitality will be offered (lots of rainbow themed goodies), helping us to celebrate the moment.
Today we celebrate and give our thanks and praise to our God of Love.
