John 19:23-30
Spark Story Bible – Last Supper pg 364

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Do you like rules? Today we celebrate Jesus giving us a very special rule because “Maundy” means mandate or rule. What would be a good rule for Jesus to give us? To always listen to our parents or always pick up our toys? Well, it’s even more special than that. He wants us to always remember Him by loving other as God has loved us. Sounds like a pretty special and important rule huh, and a great reason to celebrate!

Dig Deeper: Why were Jesus and His friends gathered today? That’s right, for the festival of Passover. What does Passover commemorate? That’s right, God protecting the Israelites in Egypt. Look up the story of Moses and the plagues to remember why Jesus and His friends were celebrating this day.

Family Activity

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Wash Each Other’s Feet: use your cardboard tote box (or any box) to act out washing each other’s feet like Jesus. As you do say “you are very special to me, I love you.”

Activity 2: Make Bread Together: Use the bread mix from your Lent At-Home Kits (or download the recipe HERE), and remember Jesus’ words, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Activity 2: Have a Remember to Be Thankful Snack:  Flip your box over to be a table. Let your kiddos pick a snack and a drink to have together. As you have the food, say something you are thankful for that shows God’s love for you. As you have your drink, say something God has help you with sharing His love. Give a cheers.

Pray Together

Say the Lord’s Prayer together!

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Your foot washing was your special blessing 🙂
