Family Faith Formation – June 6 & 7

Holy Moly! Noah

Join us each week as a family to have fun together with some of God’s great stories. We’re starting the summer off with a SPLASH with all “water” stories in June!

Start by picking a welcome video from Miss Karla or Miss Renee

Worship Together

Make the sign of the cross (Touch forehead, then heart. Touch one shoulder, then the other.) As you make the cross say, “Love God, Love Neighbor”

Offering

How will you make an offering today?

Sing

Grade School Age: (Try to remember the Kyrie tune that everyone would sing together upstairs in worship.) “Lord, have mercy on our world and on our way. Lord, have mercy every day.”

Littles: Verse 1: He’s got the whole world in His hands
Verse 2: He’s got really big rainbows in His hands

Pray

Dear God, we know You are with us in times of trouble. Give us strength to follow Your path and energy to encourage each other along the way. Thank You for sending Jesus, who showed us how to love. Amen.

Sharing and Discussion

I hope you enjoyed the Holy Moly video about Noah’s Ark! That story comes from the first book in the Bible, Genesis chapters 6-8. In the story, things were going very badly in the world, but God provided a safe place for Noah, his family and the animals.

Did God snap his fingers and make the ark appear? No. God provided the instructions and expected Noah to do the work. He’s got the whole world in His hands by using our hands!

Are there other times in the Bible when God gives instructions for safe and good living? Yep! One great example Pr Ben shared in Nativity’s Online Worship today in Micah 6:8 to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”  God tells us exactly what to do, but we have to learn them and try to follow them. It’s ok that we will make some mistakes. God is always willing to forgive us and help us try again.

We are all feeling the stress of things that are going badly in our world today and we want to make it better. It’s not easy, but God promises to help us and we can also help each other!

Family Activities

God put a rainbow in the sky to make a promise. Let’s use bright colors to cheer each other up! You can use items that we normally think of: crayons, markers, chalk… or you can try other colorful materials. Maybe you want to make a playdough rainbow, or a peace sign with pieces of tissue paper, or write “hope” with colorful tape. Look around and see what you find.

Miss Karla made a rainbow with pool noodles!

Miss Renee made a rainbow with a garden hose!
(To make at home, stand with bright sun behind you and point hose up in the sky. Works best with “misting” setting.)
