Holy Moly! Family Movie Time

Sharing and Discussion

In our video today, Jesus was celebrating a wedding. What celebrations do you like to have?

People saying cheers with a special drink. What special drink do you like to have at celebrations?

How many jars of water did Jesus ask for?

What did Jesus do for the family hosting the wedding?

Our story today teaches that God wants us to enjoy celebrating important people and events in our lives. So much that it was Jesus’ first miracle! This weekend we celebrate dads and anyone in our lives that loves us with fatherly love. Every family looks different but we all have people who make sure we are safe, have everything we need, and loves us oh so much just like God our Father in Heaven. That seems like a great reason to celebrate!

Read the Bible Together

School Age KidsJohn 2:1-11

Littles: Spark Story Bible page 322 or (Not in Frolic Bible this week, sorry!)

Digging deeper: Jesus helped people in many different ways – feeding a crowd of thousands, making the blind man see again, and calming the storm when the disciples were afraid. These are just a few examples. What are some of the different ways to be helpful? Let’s stretch our thinking a bit. How could you help someone quietly? How could you help someone you’ve never met? How could you help someone without them knowing?

Family Activities

Turn Water to a Special Drink: Use the drink mix packet in our June Drive Thru Kit or your own drink mix. Put a little in the bottom of a cup and pour water in. Come up with variations to make it fun and silly. When everyone has a cup, clink your cups, say cheers, and celebrate that God is our Heavenly Father! (To make it extra fun, play “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang in the background and have a dance party when done!)

Play ball! Have Dad or any family member sit in a chair on one side of the room. Everyone else goes to the opposite side and thinks of questions to ask the person in the “spotlight”.  (Ask about their childhood, their travels, their injuries, their favorites, etc. Try to find stories that you’ve never heard before!) Ask your question and throw the spotlight person a ball. After they answer, they throw the ball back to you or to the next person who has a question.

Spotlight art: Using various sizes of lids from your kitchen, make circles on a page. After asking your family members some questions to learn about their history, write the questions and answers in the circles and turn their story into art!
