Family Faith Formation – July 11 & 12

Holy Moly! Esther

Join us each week as a family to have fun together with some of God’s great stories. We’re starting diving into July with stories of strong Godly women!

Start by picking a welcome video from Miss Leah or Miss Renee

Worship Together

Make the sign of the cross (Touch forehead, then heart. Touch one shoulder, then the other.) As you make the cross say, “Love God, Love Neighbor”

  • If you are able, light a candle to remind yourselves that Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus is with you, and Jesus is in you. Let your light shine!

Offering

How will you make an offering today?

Sing

School Age: Thank You, God: Name three things you are thankful for today.

Littles: I’m Bold, I’m Brave!

I am not afraid, no no no no no X2
For the Kind our God is with me

Sharing and Discussion

What does it mean to be brave? Have you ever used your voice to stand up for what is right? Talk about it. Ask your family members the same question.

How did Esther feel about using her voice to speak up for the Jewish people? Do you think God had a plan for Esther? How did Mordecai help Esther?

Can you think of any other queens, princesses, kings or princes that have needed to be brave?

Read the Bible Together

School Age Kids: Esther 4:12-16

Littles: Spark Story Bible page 153 or Frolic Preschool Bible page 28

Digging deeper:

Lately, the Black Lives Matter movement has been protesting police brutality and other injustices. Have you ever been to a protest, a peace rally, or a vigil? What was it like? Some of you were at the rally honoring Philando Castile. Some of you went to the March for Science a couple years ago. Protests and rallies are one way to show up for others. What are some other ways you can support causes you believe in?

Family Activities

Activity: Make a Queen Esther crown! Using the materials provided in your Faith Formation kit (6 pieces of origami paper) or other materials in your home (paper cut into 6×6” squares), make this easy origami crown. You can watch Leah’s video for step-by-step instructions, or visit this website for pictures and written directions: http://www.paper-and-glue.com/2016/03/origami-crown-easy-paper-craft-for-kids.html

Try Big Things! Try a new activity that might be a little tough for your age. Trust that your grown up will be there to help you. And after you do it, celebrate and talk about how God can help you do big things too!
