Fall Family Faith Formation – Oct 31 & Nov 1

HAPPY ALL SAINTS DAY!!

Join us each week as a family to have fun together with God’s great stories!

Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!

Welcome Videos

Start by picking a Welcome Video from Miss Leah for Grades 1-4
or Miss Renee for littles-Kindergartners or watch both!

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together: This Little Light of Mine
add a new verse “I am a saint and so are you, I’m gonna let it shine”

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today? An offering is not always money. You can also offer your time, support, or creativity to improve the lives of others.

Littles Sing Together: Watch the Welcome Video to learn a new verse to our God’s Love song!

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Spark Story Bible (received at 3 years old) “Elijah and the Widow” on page 140
Bible (Adventure Bibles received in 3rd Grade) 1 Kings 17:7-16

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

The colorful leaves and the fall harvest make me think about abundance. What is abundance? What are some examples of God’s abundant blessings in your life?

Pumpkins are one of my favorites! They can be used for so many things. How many things can you think of? God’s love is the same way, can be used in our lives for some many things. To comfort us, to give us courage, to inspire us to help others.

People who are filled with God’s love and let His light shine are called “Saints”. Are you filled with God’s love? Do you let His light shine? You are a Saint! That’s what we celebrate today, that we, and those who have gone before us are Saints of God sharing His light in this world. Who has been a Saint in your life and shown you God’s love?

Our story today is of someone sharing God’s love in a simple way. How do you see God’s light shinning in this story?

Dig Deeper: Read John 6:5-15 (Jesus Feeds 5000). How does the story of Elijah and the Widow compare to Jesus feeding the 5000? How are the stories different? Were these both examples of miracles?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1 – Bake Miracle Bread: Using the dry ingredients provided, follow the instructions included in your November Faith Formation kits to make “miracle bread” from flour, olive oil and water like the widow in the story. Pro Tip: The FF kits have 1/3 the ingredients, so you only add 1 Tbsp olive oil and ¼ cup water. If you do not have a FF kit, you can use the full recipe here:
1 ½ cups white flour
½ cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp olive oil
¾ cup water
Mix dry ingredients. Add oil and water and mix. Divide into 6 equal parts. Knead each one on a floured surface into a 3-4” circle about ¼” thick. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350. This recipe does not raise or brown. Be careful not to overbake.

Activity 2 – All Saints Candles: Light a candle for a Saint that has gone before us that showed you God’s love.

Pray Together

“Dear God, Thank you for all the Saints that have share Your love with me. Help me to shine Your light everywhere I go too. I love You God. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Light up a candle or something from Halloween and say “Let God’s light shine!”
