Fall Family Faith Formation – Oct 23

 Grown Ups – pick your favorite Bible Story to read together and say why!

What makes you good at things? Were you good at walking the first time you tried it? Were you good at catching a ball right away? How about knowing the letters of the alphabet or reading books? Did you do it on the very first try? No! Everything we learn takes practice! Are there ways to practice following Jesus? Sure! Try praying or talking about Bible stories or doing something kind for another person. The light of Jesus will shine right through all of your efforts!

Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): This weekend, Pastor Glenn is going to talk about how we can strengthen our relationship with Jesus and others by practicing habits of faith: Pray, Worship, Read the bible, Serve, Relationships and Give. When he wrote them down by their first letters, PWRSRG, it made me think of Power (PWR) Surge (SRG). Sometimes, when I feel sad or tired I would like a power surge! If we are supposed to “let our light shine”, how do we turn the light on? What if we think of ourselves as a lamp? A lamp cannot shine by itself. It has to be plugged in to the power source! What faith habit do you think would help you feel plugged in to the awesome power of Jesus?

Activity 1: Speedy faith talk Someone else in your family share their favorite bible story is and find out why they like it! Then have fun acting it out! 

Activity 2: Make a practice chart Draw six boxes on a piece of paper and label each one with a habit of faith: Pray, Worship, Read the bible, Serve, Relationships and Give. Put it in a place where you will be sure to see it. Try a different one each day this week. It would be more fun to do with your family!
