Fall Family Faith Formation – Oct 10 & 11

Join us each week as a family to have fun together with God’s great stories!

Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!

Welcome Videos

Start by picking a Welcome Video from Miss Karla for Grades 1-4
or Miss Renee for littles-Kindergartners or watch both!

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Sing Together:Ten Commandments, God’s Big 10. Ten Commandments, say it again. We’ve got the tools with God’s great rules. Ten Commandments, God’s Big 10!

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today? An offering is not always money. You can also offer your time, support, or creativity to improve the lives of others.

Littles Sing Together: Watch the Welcome Video to learn a new verse to our God’s Love song!

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Frolic Bible (received at Baptism) “Moses & The Exile”
Spark Story Bible (received at 3 years old) Ten Commandments on page 96
Bible (Adventure Bibles received in 3rd Grade) Exodus: 20:1-17

3 Year Olds and 3rd Graders will receive their New Bibles as part of our Milestone Ministry this fall.

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Do you like rules? What kinds of things have rules? Who makes rules? How do rules help you?

Our church motto is “Love God, Love Neighbor”. How do the Ten Commandments help us live this motto out?

Dig Deeper: The Israelites were impatient when Moses was up on the mountain with God for forty days and nights. They weren’t sure if he was coming back and they got nervous and built a golden statue god to pray to.  What do you do when you get nervous or impatient? Do you talk to someone about your feelings? Do you try to distract yourself with activities or screens? What do you think God wants us to do when we have uncomfortable feelings?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1 – Scoop up the wisdom: Get the ice cream paper from your monthly kit or CLICK HERE  print one. Read the simplified commandment on each scoop. Then color them and cut them out. Make a triangular shape from the brown paper in your kit, or from paper you have at home. Stack the scoops up and glue them on your “cone” to make a tremendous tower of inspirational ice cream! (Then go and enjoy the warm weather and family time with some real ice cream!)

Activity 2 – Drumming it into your memory: Find some items you could use as drums – overturned plastic bowls, cardboard boxes, the seat of a chair, etc. Make a family drum circle and take turns pounding out the simple commandment words. One person drums and says it, and everyone else drums and echoes it. Then let the next person lead, (i.e. One person pounds out the words, “Put God first!” Then the rest of the family pounds and says, “Put God first!” Then the next person in the family leads, “No fake gods!” Continue around the circle with, “Respect God’s name, Day of rest, Respect your parents, Do not kill, Respect marriage, Do not steal, Do not lie, and Don’t be jealous.”

Pray Together

“Dear God, Thank you for giving us a plan for good living. Help us to put you first in our lives and our choices. We feel good when we remember to love God, and love neighbor.  Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Touch all 10 of your fingers together and say “God wants the best for you!”
