Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle saying, “Jesus is the light of the world.”

Sing Together: God will never stop, never stop loving me. God will never stop, never stop loving me. Whatever I may do, wherever I may be, God will never stop, never stop loving me!
(excerpt from a song by Karyn Henley)

  • Make an Offering: How can you give an offering today? It could be time, talent, or treasure!
  • Lord’s Prayer: In Grades 1-4 Faith Formation, we practice praying as Jesus taught us.

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for your child’s age.

Exodus 3:1-15 or Spark Story Bible The Burning Bush

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Have you ever seen anything shocking or amazing? Something that made you say, “whoa what is that?”

In our story today, Moses sees something that make him think whoa I need to take a closer look. It was bush on fire but was not being burned up. When he approached it, he heard God call his name and ask him to go help His people. How did Moses respond? Nope, not me, I’m not a leader. Has that ever happened to you. God speaking to you from a bush? Probably not 😛 But have you ever seen something that looks out of place: like a dirty dish left on the table or a kid that doesn’t have anyone to play with on the playground? It’s easy to think, I didn’t make that mess or I’m having too much fun to stop. But that is when God is calling you to be His helper. And just like God assured Moses, He will be with you. So this week look for burning bushes, things that seem out of place and say “Here I am” and be a helper.

Dig Deeper: In our story today, Moses removes his shoes in reverence to being in the presence of God. What things does you family do to show reverence to God? A certain way you fold your hands to pray, bowing your head, a special place for your Bible, saying/singing “Thank You God for Giving Us ___”? What do you notice we do at church? Talk about what your grown ups noticed when they were your age. Then talk about 1 thing you could do this week as a family to acknowledge the presence of God.

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together with supplies you have around your house!

Family Activity: Make a Burning Bush! Go on a walk and collect some fall leaves. For each leaf, thank God for a way someone has helped you this week. Then glue them in a pattern to look like a bush on fire to a piece of paper. For each leaf you glue on, think of a way you can be a helper the next week and say “Here I am God, send me!”

Pray Together

“Dear God, help me to notice when things seem out of place and give me the courage to be a helper. Thank you for always being with me. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Ask “[name] can you be a helper” and respond, “Here I am, send me!”
