Shine a Light: Light four Advent candles today!
(Little ones may enjoy this rhyme)
Little light, little light number one. Family gives us HOPE as we begin our advent fun.
Little light, little light number two. God’s presence gives us PEACE in all we do.
Little light, little light number three. Reunions give us JOY where ever we may be.

Little light, little light number four. God’s blessings give us LOVE, so we can share it more.
Little light, little light number five. God’s son Jesus is born, so we can keep HOPE, PEACE, JOY & LOVE alive!

Sing Together: Advent Song
Sing the Emmanuel song from the video or another Christmas song that you like.

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today? Grades 1-4 are collecting offerings to go to ELCA Good Gifts. We like to pick out animals for long lasting food stability. Anyone can donate at goodgifts.elca.org

Talk About It!

Merry Christmas! I hope you had a great day celebrating with your family! What was your favorite gift you received? What was you favorite to give?

Are you bummed that Christmas is over? Well guess what!?! It’s not over!! Have you ever heard of the song “The 12 Days of Christmas”? Well it’s not just a song, it about the 12 days between Christmas Day and Epiphany. That means there is 12 whole days to celebrate Christmas!! How exciting is that?! In our house we celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas by following a Christmas star leading the 3 Kings on their journey to see baby Jesus. We call it “The Star from Afar” (it’s like the Elf on the shelf.) Each morning we wake up to see where the 3 Kings are on their journey, it’s usually something fun and silly. Then we read a blessing about the joys of following God’s light.

If you’d like to join us, we’ll be posting our 3 Kings journey on the Nativity Facebook Page. Or you can make your own journey with your own wisemen from your nativity set.

Digging deeper: Have you ever wondered why they give such unusual gifts in the song “The 12 Days of Christmas”? Who wants a calling bird or geese a laying? They actually all represent a certain blessing from God. Click HERE to learn what each one means.

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Christ Candle Holder: Use the transparency sheet and nativity scene stickers from your Advent bag to make a candle holder for your Christ candle in your Advent Wreath. Place the stickers how you’d like on the sheet, then roll it like a cylinder and tape it together. Then place it over your Christ candle and see how the light of Jesus lights us the scene!

Star from Afar: Pick a star ornament or make one out of paper. Have one member of your family hide it and then let everyone else look for it. You can do it all 12 of the days of Christmas! Follow us in the Nativity Facebook page for a blessing to read each day.

Today’s Blessing: Twinkling from a sparkling sky
On that special night
Down upon the baby boy
A star so big and bright
Even from a far-off land
The new star could be seen
The wise men went with gifts in hand
To praise the newborn King

Pray Together

Dear God, Your light always leads us to You! Amen.

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Make you hands like twinkling stars, then say “You shine God’s light!”
