Raising the Roof!

Work on Nativity’s roof is underway and on target to finish around mid-August!

On July 11, crews began preparation for the new roof by bringing in supplies and vacuuming off the roof’s gravel layer for recycling. Air conditioning units were sealed to keep dust out of the building during that process. The tear-off began with removing the existing roof system down to the deck on the sanctuary side of the flat roof. Insulation was installed along with a new membrane tied into the existing system to ensure a water-tight fit. Crews have continued the process in sections along the roof. The new roof system will not just seal the church from the elements but also from insects. (No more flies visiting our sanctuary in the fall months…)

The construction team has shared a tentative completion date of August 22. Thanks to Nativity’s Facilities Supervisor, Michael Garrett, for sharing photos of the ongoing construction.
