After serving as Nativity’s Principal Pianist for the past few years, Jeanne Cotter has been named our new Director of Music Ministry.

Besides her time at Nativity, Jeanne comes with many years of experience as a church music professional. Jeanne Cotter is a commanding presence in the American Catholic Church. As a composer, author, performer, and speaker she has inspired and taught audiences throughout the United States and abroad in concerts, parish missions, seminars, and retreats. Jeanne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and theology from the University of St. Thomas (St Paul, MN) and a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology and Spirituality from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA). She has completed advanced studies in song writing and music business from the Grove School of Music in (Los Angeles, CA).

Drawing on her Irish heritage, Jeanne embraces the power of storytelling to connect diverse audiences through our shared human story. Her own experience of growing up in a large, multi-racial, multi-national farm family from Southern Minnesota informs the values from which she writes and speaks, deeply rooted in the gospel teachings of Jesus. Jeanne has numerous recordings, music collections and books published by GIA Publications, Inc. as well as Mythic Rain, LLC. She says her greatest work, however, is mothering her three children, Jonah, Anna and Adrian.

Jeanne will lead our Music Ministry Team and collaborate with other leaders in crafting worship. She comes to this role with a desire and passion to help Nativity sing and play its faith in a way authentic to this community. Jeanne’s charisma in working with others inspires people to do their best, and her joy is contagious. Jeannie’s artistry brings the Nativity worship experience to a new level. We look forward to Jeanne’s continued ministry at Nativity in this new role.
