On behalf of our youth, adult leaders, and families, thank you to Nativity for your incredible support of our recent High School Service and Learning Trip. We appreciate your prayers, enthusiasm, and generosity that make these experiences possible.
This week we are learning about what leads to homelessness and supporting ministries that helps people recover. Homelessness is illegal in the state of Tennessee, so it has been meaningful to be work with ministries and organizations fighting for the cause.
Throughout the week, the youth served at a wide variety of organizations, including:
- The BELL Garden – weeding and gardening for the nonprofit’s mission to donate thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families in need.
- Room in the Inn – serving breakfast through the Cafe Program, which provides meals and dignity to individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Project C.U.R.E. – sorting and packing donated essential medicals items that will be shipped to hospitals and clinics in 135 countries
- Nashville Rescue Mission – prepping food and serving lunch to guests experiencing homelessness
- Soles4Souls – unloading and sorting donated shoes for communities in need.
- Second Harvest – packing food for the nonprofit
We’ve loved every moment with Serve Boldly and the incredible people of Nashville. Their hospitality, stories, and missions inspired us in ways we’ll carry home with us.
Our group also had the opportunity to learn the history of Nashville, take in a baseball game at First Horizon Park, enjoy the true taste of Nashville at Prince’s Hot Chicken and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint, hit Broadway Street, and celebrate at Six Flags St. Louis.
We head home tired but full of memories, reflections, and excitement to share all we’ve learned. This week has been more than just a trip; it’s been a transformation!
