Nativity members active in Beacon have been advocating at the State Capitol for affordable housing this legislative session. Their work is not done, however, and they are asking the congregation to help secure $40 million in supportive housing funds by sending emails to House and Senate leaders.
By clicking on the below link and filling in the attached form, Nativity members can send an email prepared by Beacon to five state senators and representatives.
Nativity members of Beacon started the year by attending the Start with Home Rally in January at the Capitol rotunda. In March, they met individually with legislators to advocate for supportive housing, which funds the services needed by residents of affordable housing complexes.
The need is greater because federal funding has proved unstable this year. The legislature so far has approved $9 million in previously appropriated funds, but Beacon hopes supportive housing funds can gain a greater share of the House and Senate proposals, which are not final. Adjournment is May 18.
