March Is Hunger & Food Outreach Month

04
Mar

Nativity’s Hunger and Food Outreach Team works to recognize and respond to the reality that many people are unable to acquire sufficient food to meet basic nutritional needs. We work to increase awareness and understanding of hunger and food insecurity in our community. We also offer dedicated volunteer opportunities, donation drives, and advocacy experiences as we work together to end hunger by feeding anyone in need.

Ways to Make a Difference This Month

Pack at FMSC Event
March 7, 5:00-6:30 pm | FMSC 401 93rd Ave. NW in Coon Rapids
Feed My Starving Children partners with other relief organizations around the world to alleviate hunger. For more information or to submit the names and ages (5+) of people in your group, contact Leah Reddy at leah@nativitychurch.org.

Intergenerational Learn & Pack Event
March 8, 9:15 and 10:45 | Fellowship Hall
Our Grounded & Growing class is doubling up with our older children’s faith formation classes as we explore the different ways hunger can affect our lives and the lives of others. Join us during either class time as we learn together, pray for the world’s hungry, and participate in a packing event to benefit Little Kitchen, one of our local food shelf partners. Write Letters for Bread for the World
March 14-15 after all worship hours | Commons
Twice a year, Nativity joins thousands of congregations in Bread for the World’s Offering of Letters—a simple yet powerful way to live out our faith by advocating for those who are hungry. These letters go to Congress, urging support for programs that keep food on the table for millions, including programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and international food aid.

Ask your senators and representatives to make ending hunger a priority by strengthening SNAP and WIC, fully funding global food, health and development programs, and passing a strong, bipartisan Farm Bill that supports families, farmers, and communities. Your voice matters. A few minutes to write a letter can help shape policies that protect the most vulnerable and move us closer to ending hunger. Stop by our table after worship next weekend to learn more and take part in this faithful act of justice.

Drive for Meals on Wheels
Nativity has long partnered with Eastside Meals on Wheels to deliver nutritious meals to grateful clients in our community. Recently, a few of our long-time drivers have retired from their roles, and we’re looking for additional drivers to continue this vital ministry. Nativity drivers deliver meals the first Friday of every month, and it can all be done over your lunch hour (approximately 11:15-12:15)! Contact Lisa Roers at lisa.roers@tennantco.com or 651.269.0751.

Donate Food & Dollars
Donate food—fresh or non-perishable—to our Welcome Desk anytime! And you can donate monetarily to support our local area food shelf partners by writing “Hunger and Food” on your donation memo line.
