Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Turn on a book light or reading lamp and say, “Jesus is the light of the world!”

Giving Thanks: What are 3 things made from trees/wood/paper you are thankful for today?

Sing or Say: Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he. He climbed up in a sycamore tree for the Lord he wanted to see. And as the Savior passed that way, he looked up in the tree. And he said, “Zacchaeus, you come down. For I’m going to your house today. For I’m going to you house today.”

Offering: How can you make an offering today?

Talk About It!

Talk About It: Climbing, watching, walking and eating. Those are some of the actions that our two stories have in common today. And there’s something else… CURIOSITY! Are you curious about things? Lots of different things or just a few things that really interest you? Is curiosity good? Sometimes! It helps us observe, ask questions and learn things. Is curiosity bad? Sometimes! It can lead us to try things that are not safe or get more involved in others people’s business than we should be.

Have you guessed which children’s book we will be reading today? Curious George! The little monkey who always get in trouble because he tries things without understanding or asking permission. But he always has good intentions and keeps trying until he fixes the problem or helps people in another way.

Our bible story is about Zacchaeus, the unpopular tax collector who was so curious about Jesus that he climbed a tree just to get a look at him. Much to his surprise, Jesus saw him, called him by name, and said, “Zacchaeus, come down. I’m coming to your house.” That visit from Jesus changed his whole life!

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Speed it up! – Make up actions for the words: climbing, watching, walking and eating. Then let one person call out whichever actions they want, in whatever order they want. Start slow and then speed up! Take turns being the caller and enjoy watching your family members show off their super speed!

Activity 2: Up in the tree – Use items in your house to make a crafty tree. For example, use a paper towel roll for the trunk and cut and glue on some paper leaves. Poke in some small, real sticks if you want to. Then draw a face and a robe on a clothespin to be Zacchaeus and put him up in the tree. Use your imagination and have fun doing it your way!

Pray Together

“Thank you, God for knowing our name and wanting to visit with us. Help us to be curious in safe ways and learn about your world and your people. Amen.”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Pick a “speed” (super fast, super slow, etc) and say “you are a child of God!”
