Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus shows the way.”

Sing Together: Do, Do, Do – Do To Others”
Do, do, do – Do to others. Do, do, do – Do to others. Do, do, do – Do to others. As you would have them do to you.

Make an Offering: Put an offering in your Lenten “Piggy” Bank or share an offering another way.

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Bible – Luke 13:6-9

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

What fruits do you like to eat? Why do you enjoy fruit? Have you ever gone to pick fruit? What was that like?

The man in our story went to pick fruit from his fig tree, but there were no figs. He was angry, and he wanted to cut down the fig tree, but the gardener told the man to be patient and wait another year. What is a gift or talent you have to work at and wait for to see the results? Ask your grown ups too! How can you use those gifts to help others?

Dig Deeper: The gardener in the story is like Jesus: patient, forgiving, nurturing, and rooting for us to be our very best. Jesus teaches us that God will always give us another chance. What movies, TV shows, or books do you know about where people who made mistakes had another chance to make things right? Watch or read one of them soon.

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Eat a fruity snack. Use the Fruit Snacks in your Faith Formation kit or pieces of fruit from home (grapes, orange slices, etc). Each time you eat a piece, name a way that you can “bear good fruit.” This means how can you be your best, most loving self?

Activity 2: Do Week 2 of Family Lent Activities: Use the “On Earth As In Heaven” Lent packet from you Feb At-Home Kit or download HERE to have some learning how we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth this Lenten season. Week 1 focuses on world hunger. Choose from a discussion page, a story about Mexico, making Mexican snacks, doing a craft or do them all!

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Gently pinch each other’s cheeks and say “You’re a good and fruity!”
