Deacon Kyle
Deacon Kyle oversees our Outreach Ministries and our Organizational Development efforts at Nativity. He comes with lived experiences of being nourished, supported, and encouraged by the community and strives to ‘pay it forward’ in his current role.
He serves the community well and with intention as a trained community organizer, a certified spiritual director, and with an advanced leadership degree from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, a business degree from Augsburg University, and advanced ministry training through hands-on-experience from Luther Seminary in St. Paul.
Recently, Deacon Kyle made history at Nativity. He was called to the Ministry of Word and Service with a 128-0 Vote in favor, by the Nativity Community. Although on staff for over seven years, he begins this relatively new, expanded leadership role with an exemplar recommendation from the ELCA Minneapolis Area Synod:
“Kyle is articulate and authentic. He genuinely understands the call to Word and Service ministry. Kyle works hard and effortlessly to integrate what he learns into action. He exhibits deep self-awareness and empathy. He is a life-long learner who can expect to refine what it means to be a Christian public leader. Kyle is remarkable at community organizing, adept at navigating when to equip, empower, and lead groups in the area of social justice. He has deep listening skills”.
And while continuing to lead Nativity’s internal, holistic approach to addressing the needs in our community, his next step is working on new and innovative ministries with cross-sector-partnerships and with local community residents themselves to expand our collective, collaborative impact in the community.
Aside from work and ministry, Deacon Kyle loves spending time with his family, being in nature, and getting coffee with friends. In particular, he is over the moon in love with his amazing partner Janell, his incredible little-one Hope Marie, and his two empathetic and cuddly rescue pets, Loki and Howie.
