I have been in prayer since hearing about the shooting death of Philando Castile. Another officer involved shooting brings about a range of emotions, from shock, deep sadness and fear to confusion and anger. I have been praying for comfort for the family and friends of Philando and I have been praying for the police officer involved. The officer and his family are also experiencing deep pain.
I have also been praying for wisdom as a community, wisdom to work together, wisdom to be a part of the solution and not part of the problem.
Pastor Dan and I have been in conversation with many from the community. We are aware of the need for the community to come together to talk. After worship on Saturday July 9 and Sunday July 10, people can write notes to Philando’s family as well as notes of support for the St. Anthony Police Department and the officer involved. Pastors will facilitate a time to talk 6:30pm July 9 and 11:30am, July 10 in room 218, Nativity Lutheran Church 3312 Silver Lake Road.
