Bible – Acts 8:26-39
Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
Drip, drop, splash! Today, we get to talk about water. Lakes, pools, sinks, cups, puddles, leaks… water is in many places. We may not think about it too much, but water is a critical part of our life. How many ways is water used in your home? What would you do if you turned on your faucet and the water that came out was dirty? As we celebrate Earth Day, let’s try and remember to be thankful that we have plenty of clean, fresh water!
Dig Deeper: Water is a part of many bible stories. Noah and the flood, turning water into wine, the woman at the well and many more! In today’s story from Acts, a man who is visiting Jerusalem from another country learns about God and Jesus and asks to be baptized in the water. Baptism is a welcome into God’s family and water also symbolizes how our sin can be washed away and we are saved by the love of God, through Jesus. Have fun talking about your family baptism stories!
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity 1: Creation Care Celebration! Fill and bring the water container, (that was delivered in your April kit), to the church on Sunday, April 25th between 10:00 and noon and enjoy the outdoor activities about creation and water!
Activity 2: Wonderful water! Play a game of sink or float? Paint a watercolor picture. Blow bubbles with a straw in a cup of water. Make some good suds and wash dirty toys. Water play is always fun… even if you’re stuck indoors!
Find some rocks and some water (a bucket works if not by a pond) Think of something to thank God for that uses water (thank you God for whales or thank you God for water to make lemonade) and drop a rock in as a prayer for each thing. Watch the splash and the ripples spread out just like God’s blessing of water spreads far and wide.
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Remember your baptism by dipping your finger in water and tracing a cross on each other’s foreheads and say, “You are a child of God!”
