God’s work. Our hands.

“As… one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor, service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ…. flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace”.

The Weekend’s Details:

This year, join us in celebrating some of the depth, breadth, and diversity of our community’s acts of service, reflecting the very nature of our hearts.

Come walk with us!

  • The weekend’s events are chronological so that each activity is open to all, promoting fellowship and community.
  • For safety, space in some activities may be limited.
  • Social Distancing and Best Practices for Health & Safety will be used for all in-person activities. Masks are required. Sanitation Stations will be available.
  • All proceeds from this weekend’s activities will support a goal of reaching $1,000 for 10 Tablets for youth experiencing homelessness, assisting them with their upcoming school year. Possible through a partnership with LSS.

Did you know? Twin Cities Homelessness…

  • Since early June, over 55 Public Parks in Minneapolis alone have tent cities.
  • An estimated 700,000 youth without a parent or guardian experience homelessness each year.
  • Homelessness is growing more because of exuberant housing costs. It would take 127 hours per week at the minimum wage to rent a modest 2-bedroom home.
  • 30% of homeless people in the Twin Cities have jobs but cannot afford housing.
  • Nativity has actively participated in helping organizations that aid people experiencing homelessness in our area. Ask us how you can continue to help.

Sunday September 13,

New Small Groups to discuss Dear Church
Let’s learn to listen actively, ponder empathetically, and grow as individuals and as a community, by having powerful conversations, with love in our hearts.

Be a part of a growing ministry at Nativity: self-contained, small groups that are discussing a book called Dear Church, by Lenny Duncan. Duncan is a black ELCA pastor who writes a love-letter to the whitest denomination in the United States and draws a direct line between the church’s lack of diversity and its lack of vitality. The problems we face are theological, not sociological, and he offers a bold new vision for our ELCA denomination.

You can find a copy through the Augsburg Fortress or on Amazon.

Groups will meet for one hour, once a week for six to seven weeks. No need to read the entire book in advance of the 1st meeting.

The Sunday morning small group begins on September 13th. All other small groups will begin once they reach a minimum of 5 people.

Indicate your interest in a meeting time below and we will connect with you on your groups start date.
