Join us during lent as we focus on Hunger in our local and worldwide communities with help from the ELCA World Hunger. You will find resources for bible studies, books to read, a calendar you can follow, and ways you can help raise funds for local and world hunger. Join in our Nativity community as we learn and act to eradicate hunger!
40 DAYS OF GIVING
We are collecting donations for local LSS hunger programs and the ELCA World Hunger program. Children and youth received a piggy bank asking to fill it during lent with $30. Another way to help raise funds for hunger is the Walk For Hunger. It’s simple, just walk at least 1 mile during the 40 days of lent and find people to sponsor you and your goal is to raise $40. Drive up – Drop Off your donations on March 28th from 10-12 pm. Children & Youth will receive a special certificate for helping to raise money and a medal if they participate in the Walk for Hunger
On Earth As In Heaven is a Weekly Hunger Lent focus on the Lord’s Prayer. Bible study, Conversations, Games and Food Recopies all with a focus from around the world.
Each day, the calendar will ask you a question. Example: How many pairs of shoes do you have? Students will write the number. Use the Hunger Piggy received in your Faith Formation Lent Packet to put coins to represent the number. Example: You will get rolls of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters and use during this project. If you have 6 pairs of shoes you will put in 6 quarters.
This is a 5-week resource that can be done with a small group or individually. Each session draws on the Scripture readings for Lent and challenges us to reflection and action
