Family Faith Formation – June 27 & 28
Holy Moly! Calming the Storm
Join us each week as a family to have fun together with some of God’s great stories. We’re starting the summer off with a SPLASH with all “water” stories in June!
Start by picking a welcome video from Miss Leah or Miss Renee
Make the sign of the cross (Touch forehead, then heart. Touch one shoulder, then the other.) As you make the cross say, “Love God, Love Neighbor”
How will you make an offering today?
School Age: This Little Light of Mine: If you are able, light a candle to remind yourselves that Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus is with you, and Jesus is in you. Let your light shine!
- Thank You, God: Name three things you are thankful for today.
Littles: He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands
Verse 1: He’s got the whole world in His hands
Verse 2: He’s got really big rainbows in His hands
Verse 3: He’s got all God’s Children in His hands
Verse 4: He’s got all kinds of families in His hands
NEW Verse 5: He gives us peace with His hands
Pray the Lord’s Prayer
Holy Moly! Family Movie Time
Jesus and his disciples were traveling across the Sea of Galilee (actually a big lake) when suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake.
Sharing and Discussion
Have you ever been caught in a storm before? Why are storms scary?
Why do you think Jesus was sleeping? Can you sleep during a storm? How?
When Miss Leah & Miss Renee were children, they knew their families would take care of them during a bad storm. Jesus knew God would keep him safe. Just like Jesus calmed the rain and the wind, Jesus can calm the “storms” in our lives. He can help us when we are worried and walk with us during difficult times. This doesn’t mean Jesus makes all our troubles disappear, but he can give us peace in our hearts. That’s how God brings peace on Earth, one heart at a time 🙂
Read the Bible Together
School Age Kids: Matthew 8:23-27
Littles: Spark Story Bible page 254 or (Not in Frolic Bible this week, sorry!)
Digging deeper: Does your family have a plan for safety during a severe storm, such as a tornado? Develop a plan for what to do before, during and after a tornado. Talk about it and practice it. Here is a comprehensive resource: https://www.weather.gov/safety/tornado
Design a boat! Using the materials provided in your Faith Formation kit (pool noodle, straw, foam sail and stickers) or other materials in you home (cardboard, paper, etc.), design a boat that will float. Put your boat in a tub or big bucket of water. Create a splashing storm to see what your boat can withstand!
Bless Each Other
Give each other the peace sign (or some peas!) and say “God gives you peace!”
Camp Wow Seed Bomb Project
